Controversial Macron suggestion: Let’s fine the children’s families

French President Emmanuel Macron said he wanted to impose financial sanctions on families whose children took part in the protests, which began in reaction to the killing of a young man under the age of 18 by a police bullet.

Macron met with the police, who have intervened in the raging protests since June 27, at an informal dinner in a Paris restaurant. According to French press reports, Macron announced his support for the police and stated that he wanted to financially punish the families whose children were involved in the events. Macron said: “Your pockets need to be touched, but they get it. “There should be a financial penalty for their nonsense,” he said.

The police also complained to Macron: “There is no match or other event that does not happen. They are dying to crush it,” he said.
