TMO will receive all the products supplied in grain
Turkish Grain Board (TMO) General Manager Ahmet Güldal stated that they buy grain from the producer 7 days a week, saying, “Our buying places will be open until the last product is bought and the last product that our producer will supply TMO. . There is no need for our farmers to panic.” saying.
Güldal made evaluations of grain yield and the TMO appointment system.
Stating that they experienced the harvest period intensely and that the 2023 harvest was fruitful, Güldal stated that they expect around 21 million tons of wheat and 8.5 million tons of barley.
Emphasizing that the harvest is almost over in Çukurova, the southeast and the Mediterranean, the end is near in the Marmara and Aegean regions, and this will continue to intensify in the Central Anatolia region, Güldal said that the harvest has just started in Thrace. , and that Eastern Anatolia will come into play later.
THE RAIN HAD A POSITIVE INFLUENCE ON THE RECOVERY
Noting that there has been very good productivity with the effect of the recent rains, Güldal said: “Our growers get the highest yield per hectare in wheat and barley in recent years. This has contributed significantly to performance,” he said.
Recalling that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the grain purchase price of 8,250 lira per ton for wheat and 7,000 lira for barley on June 6, in addition to this, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced to all producers 1000 lire for wheat and 500 lire for barley this year. He said producers will benefit from the ministry’s support if they sell products to TMOs and foreign traders and industrialists.
‘TMO DIDN’T SAY TO BUY MORE PRODUCTS’
Emphasizing that the prices TMO receives are the highest in the market, Güldal said that all growers want to sell their products to them.
Güldal shared the information that 4 million tons of products have been made appointments in their systems so far and continued as follows:
“Approximately 2 million tons of products have been received and our purchases continue. Reception points were created in 540 points. 30-35 thousand appointments are given in a day. There is a need here. But the problem here is that our growers want to take their produce to the TMO buying locations after harvest and deliver it. So there is a delay because everyone wants to deliver their product at the same time.
We advise our producers to remain calm. We have planned our warehouse and staff to be able to receive all the products. We have made our preparations to cover all kinds of needs. None of our manufacturers’ products will be directed elsewhere by TMO. TMO does not claim to buy products from other places. He receives the product that arrives, but it has to be planned according to the appointment system”.
THE APPOINTMENT SYSTEM IS CONTINUOUSLY UPDATED
Emphasizing that they are constantly updating their appointment system, Güldal explained that they expanded the appointment system as they determined new purchase points and started using new warehouses.
Emphasizing that they work 7 days a week, Güldal said: “Even on Eid al-Adha, we had 2 days off. Other days we continue with our purchases. In this sense, we have made our planning so that our collection places are open for 7 days, 12-13 hours a day until the end of July. We buy 120-130 thousand tons of products daily throughout the country. After Central Anatolia intensifies in July, we will increase our daily purchasing capacity to 220 thousand tons.
‘WE WILL NOT CLOSE THE PURCHASE’
Güldal stated that they plan all their possibilities and abilities to acquire the product from the manufacturer, and said that their expectation from the manufacturer is to be calm, not rush, and make sure to bring their products using the appointment system.
Emphasizing that TMO will not close the purchases, Güldal said:
“We will constantly push it forward. We do not want them to sell their products at prices below ours in the market. TMO prices are reference prices. We don’t want them to give their products below this, there is a difference of 1-2 thousand lire. Even if our producer’s delivery times are delayed by 1 year, they will be received by the state, by the TMO, and our producers will not suffer any harm.
Our purchasing locations will be open until the last product is purchased and the last product that our producer will supply to TMO arrives. We make our plans accordingly. There has been no rejection or redirection, nor will there be. Our farmers need not worry. We will open new places as needed, we will buy all the products. We bought 7 million tons of products last year, we think we will exceed 10 million tons this year.” (AA)
