Example of law: Searches to market prohibited products in Spain
Within the framework of the General Telecommunications Law, which was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force, all companies dedicated to the commercialization of goods and services may not make unsolicited commercial telephone calls to citizens.
The law also covers commercial messages sent by email other than the phone, which often end up in the “spam” box.
Companies are given a period of 1 year to adapt to the new legislation, and then fines are provided for those who do not comply with the new law.
Although commercial calls from landline or mobile phone numbers in Spain must be made with the consent of the citizen from now on, the supervision to be applied to companies related to this will be carried out by the Spanish Agency for Data Protection. (AA)
