Biden’s rigorous statement during the period of relations
US President Joe Biden has insinuated that Chinese President Xi Jinping is a “dictator”.
Speaking at a campaign reception in California, Biden suggested that Xi’s reaction to the downing of the Chinese “spy balloon” that entered US airspace in February was due to “not knowing it was there.” Biden said: “I mean it. “It’s a great shame for dictators when they don’t understand what’s going on,” he said.
Biden said Xi was “embarrassed” when the balloon was shot down in US airspace and “didn’t even know the balloon was there.” “The biggest point is that he’s in a situation where he wants to re-establish a relationship right now,” he said.
Biden affirmed that Foreign Minister Antony Blinken “did a good job” during his visit to China, but on the other hand said that it will take time for relations to improve. The US president also pointed out that China has serious economic problems, commenting: “Worry about China, but not about China.”
Expressing that the Chinese president is also uncomfortable with the Quad alliance between the US, Australia, India and Japan, Biden said that Xi called him and asked them not to do this. (AA)
