The accusations of the attack made a mess! US warns Ukraine

According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) story, which is based on an official with knowledge of the correspondence, CIA officials forwarded a tip they received from the Dutch military intelligence service to higher authorities in June 2022.

While the United States took the report seriously, it also doubted Ukraine’s ability to carry out such an attack deep in the Baltic Sea.

Towards the end of the summer, the CIA received more intelligence that Ukraine had abandoned this plan, and the United States informed its European allies that kyiv was less likely to carry out the operation.

However, in the month following this notification, 3 of the 4 Nord Stream pipelines became unusable as a result of strong underground explosions.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Also last week, the WSJ wrote that German investigators examined evidence that a Ukrainian sabotage team used Poland for logistics and financing of last year’s attack.

The Washington Post also claimed last week that the CIA had access to information through a European intelligence service in June 2022 that a 6-person team from Ukrainian special operations forces was planning to sabotage the Nord Stream pipeline, which carries Russian gas to Europe.

The group, consisting of one woman and five men, was reported to have chartered yachts using fake passports and sabotaged the Nord Stream pipelines in the northern German city of Rostock in September 2022.

The sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines passing under the Baltic Sea in September 2022 caused extensive damage to power lines connecting Russia and Germany.

In addition to Germany, institutions in Denmark and Sweden are investigating the sabotage. (AA)
