Trump heads to Miami, where he will appear in court
Former US President Donald Trump drove from Bedminster Golf Course in New Jersey, where he spent the weekend, to Newark Liberty International Airport with a convoy of vehicles.
As some national television channels broadcast Trump’s departure, it was striking that none of his relatives was with him when the former president boarded the plane.
Trump will appear in court tomorrow afternoon in Miami federal court around 3 p.m. local time on federal charges against him.
Trump is expected to return to New Jersey the same day and make a public statement on the allegations against him at Bedminster Golf Course at 8:15 p.m. local time.
The former president was accused in a 49-page indictment last week of carrying classified documents with him when he left his post at the White House and obstructing federal investigations into it.
CONFIDENTIAL DOCUMENTS FROM THE TRUMP MANSION
Trump’s home in Florida was raided by FBI agents on the morning of August 8, 2022 to investigate “confidential documents.”
Describing the raid and ongoing investigations as “political,” Trump specifically requested that the documents taken from Mar-a-Lago be reviewed by an “independent arbitrator or special judge.”
It is chaired by former Attorney General Jack Smith, who was appointed as an authorized special expert in the “confidential documents” and “January 6 congressional raid” investigations of Trump.
On April 4, Donald Trump appeared before a judge in Manhattan Criminal Court on charges of “turning off” a woman during the 2016 presidential election and denied the charges against him. AA
