Zelensky: Counter-offensive actions are taking place in Ukraine

Zelenskiy held bilateral and interdelegational meetings with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who arrived in the Ukrainian capital kyiv for talks.

Speaking at the joint press conference held after the talks, Zelenskiy also answered questions from journalists.

Zelenskiy stated that they agreed to a joint statement as a result of their meeting with Trudeau, and that the statement noted Canada’s support for Ukraine’s NATO membership.

Stating that Ukraine could not become a NATO member during the war, Zelenskiy noted that they were working on documents that Canada could give Ukraine a security guarantee.

Zelenskiy stated that they welcome the decision to transfer the Russian An-124 cargo plane seized by Canada to Ukraine.

“I CAN’T TELL YOU IN DETAIL”

Noting that they discussed the reconstruction of Ukraine during the meeting, Zelenskiy said: “We discussed the issue of mine clearance in Ukraine. Canada is already helping us. We identified how we can increase this cooperation and save the lives of more Ukrainian citizens.” saying.

When asked about Ukraine’s planned counterattack, Zelenskiy said: “Defensive and counteroffensive actions are taking place in Ukraine. I will not say in detail at what stage it is. I think we will all definitely feel it.” saying.

“WE HAVE HELPED MORE THAN 8 BILLION DOLLARS”

Stating that they will provide $500 million worth of new military support to Ukraine, Trudeau said: “We have provided more than $8 billion in total, of which $1 billion is military aid.” he said.

Noting that Canada will participate in the process of training Western-sourced aircraft of Ukrainian pilots, Trudeau said: “We will also add 287 more proportioned AlM-7 Sparrow missiles to protect Ukrainian airspace and additionally provide 10,155mm. shells.” he said.

Trudeau announced that he will allocate $10 million to support those affected by the flooding as a result of the impact of the Kahovka dam. (AA)
