Last night, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson immediately resigned as a member of the House of Commons. The reason for his resignation is the investigation of him due to partygate. While the investigation report has not yet been made public, Johnson had seen it before. He said the commission of inquiry “apparently wants to kick him out of parliament”.

The investigation revolves around partygate, the illegal parties Johnson has held at his office and official residence during the corona lockdowns. The committee investigated whether Johnson deliberately misled parliament when he said no rules had been broken. He himself claimed that the deception was accidental and he apologized for it.

According to Johnson, the commission is biased and they were always ready to find him guilty. “I have not lied and I think the committee knows it in their hearts,” said the former prime minister. “To my surprise, the committee is determined to kick me out of parliament.” Johnson had previously admitted that he did not tell the truth in the House of Commons, but he would not intentionally do so. In a lengthy statement, Johnson denies all allegations.

In addition to Johnson, three other Conservatives have resigned as MPs in the last 48 hours: former digital secretary Nadine Dorries, Sir Bill Cash and Nigel Adams.
