Train disaster in India… The cause of the accident became clear
An accident involving two passengers and a freight train occurred yesterday at 7:20 p.m. local time near the Bahanaga Bazar railway station in the Balasore region of Orissa state. In the accident, 288 people died and more than 900 were injured.
In the investigation initiated by the railway authorities, it was stated that “signal error” could have caused the accident, according to the first determinations.
According to information obtained by Indian Express, the train entering the main track collided with the freight train, although the signal for Coromandel Express was given first and then the signal was cut off.
While a full report on the accident is expected to be made shortly, the reason why the signal was given and canceled is still unknown.

According to local Indian media, there are concerns that the number of people who lost their lives in the tragic incident, which is described as the “biggest train accident” in the country in the last 20 years, will rise.
The local population also supports the rescue efforts. Many train services were also canceled due to the accident.
The authorities shared the information that the passenger trains involved in the accident belonged to Coromandel Express and Yashwatpur-Howrah Express.
It was noted that the Coromandel Express passenger train departing from Shalimar railway station is headed for Chennai central railway station.

Pradeep Jena, a senior Orissa state official, said 200 ambulances, 50 buses, 45 mobile clinics and more than 1,200 police and rescue teams have been sent to the region.
“I am grateful to all the volunteers who donated blood. We are trying to send doctors, ambulances, buses as reinforcements”. Jena said that they are focusing on rescue activities and the cause of the accident is being investigated.
Indian President Draupadi Murmu, on his Twitter account, expressed his deep regret over the “unfortunate accident” and shared the grief of families who lost their loved ones.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also stated that he has met with the Minister of Railways regarding the accident and all necessary support is being given to those affected by the accident.
Modi offered his condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and wished healing to the injured. (AA)
