The German scored the fastest goal in 142 years of FA Cup Final history in 13 seconds before doubling it in the 51st minute to make it 2-1. The 32-year-old player from Gelsenkirchen scored both goals from the summer after an assist from Kevin de Bruyne.

Manchester United were lucky enough to level the score half an hour later, with Bruno Fernandes converting a penalty kick imposed by Jack Grealish with his back to the ball and outstretched arm. In general, the outsider held up well and had some chance to equalize after the second goal, including a shot on the crossbar in stoppage time.

For Manchester City, with Akanji used throughout the season, this is the seventh cup win and the second double. For it to be a treble, the Citizens must win their first Champions League victory against Inter Milan next Saturday.
