Trump’s secret recording revealed
The American news outlet CNN reported that prosecutors seized the audio recording Trump said before leaving office, taking a confidential Pentagon document about a possible attack plan against Iran.
It was recorded in the records that Trump stated that he wanted to share the information in the documents with others, but that he knew there were limitations on his authority to declassify the documents after leaving office.
In addition, the records contain statements confirming allegations that Trump brought some White House documents to the Mar-a-Lago mansion in Florida after leaving office at the Bedminster Golf Club speeches in July 2021.
The report says Trump’s admission that he knew he had no power to declassify the documents on file could help prosecutors who want to prove that after he left office, he knew the former president had limited authority to withhold classified documents.
The records were reportedly turned over to special counsel Jack Smith, who is investigating classified documents Trump kept at his Mar-a Lago property.
The report said the voices were recorded at a meeting in Bedminster with Trump aides and two people working on the autobiography of Trump-era White House chief of staff Mark Meadows. (AA)
