New bomb alert in Serbia: Schools evacuated

Some schools in Serbia were evacuated after a bomb threat.

In a statement from the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was noted that notifications were sent to the email addresses of some schools across the country about the placement of explosives in schools. In the statement, it was stated that the schools were evacuated and that the bomb threat would be verified as false.

Pointing out that previous bomb threats against schools were unfounded, the statement read: “We would like to remind you that as of May 8, the presence of police officers taking protective measures has increased in all primary and secondary schools. of Serbia, as well as in school districts. Police officers take care of the safety and protection of all citizens on a daily basis.

At Vladislav Ribnikar primary school in Belgrade, 14-year-old KK opened fire on security guards and students on May 3. In the attack, 10 people, including 9 children, a security guard, lost their lives and 6 people were injured, including 5 children and a teacher.

The 14-year-old boy was claimed to have been planning the attack for a month and had a list of the students he attacked and a school plan. After the attack, two police officers were deployed to every school in Serbia.

Two days after the attack on the school in the capital, 21-year-old UB Mladenvac opened random fire at the surroundings with an automatic rifle from his vehicle in the town of Dubona, killing 8 people.

National mourning was declared after two armed attacks in Serbia that resulted in the loss of 18 lives. (AA)
