NATO statement: Dialogue must be established
NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, has announced that he has met with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, about the tension between Kosovo and Serbia. Stoltenberg stated that Pristina and Belgrade should establish a dialogue supported by the European Union (EU).
NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg shared on his social media account: “I spoke to the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, about Kosovo. Pristina and Belgrade must immediately join the EU-led dialogue, which is the only path to peace and normalization. Prishtina must reduce tensions and not take unilateral and destabilizing measures. KFOR will continue to provide a safe and secure environment.”
KFOR: WE FOLLOW CLOSELY
On the other hand, the NATO Peacekeeping Force (KFOR) also issued a statement.
“The NATO-led KFOR mission is closely monitoring the situation in northern Kosovo and condemns all unilateral actions that risk further escalation,” KFOR said in a statement. Our first priority remains to ensure a safe and secure environment in accordance with the mandates of the United Nations Security Council.
