Sergio Rico, goalkeeper for the French giant Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), was taken to intensive care following a horse riding accident that occurred in Spain, his hometown.
Rico, 29, was confirmed to be in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Seville, PSG told Sky News. While no clear statement has been made on the extent of his injuries, a PSG spokesman said: “His condition of him is serious.”
According to reports in Spain and France, Rico collided with another fleeing horse while riding near the Spanish city of Huelva. Rico, who reportedly suffered a head injury, was airlifted to a hospital near Seville.
In the publication made on the official Twitter account of Club Sevilla, the phrases “Be very strong and heal quickly, Sergio Rico” were used. The official Ligue 1 Twitter account shared: “All our thoughts are with Sergio Rico.”
