More than 2,000 terrorists who surrender will be reintegrated into society
Audu Ayuba, Deputy Director of Planning, Research and Strategy at the National Directorate Agency, assessed the ongoing rehabilitation program against Boko Haram members who surrendered.
APPROVED THE REHABILITATION PROGRAM
Ayuba noted that 2,167 of Boko Haram’s dedicated members went through a rehabilitation program to reintegrate into society.
Stating that these people will acquire a profession and be handed over to their families, Ayuba stated that the government is determined in the fight against terrorism.
More than 100,000 people have surrendered as part of the fight against Boko Haram in Nigeria.
IT IS A SERIOUS SECURITY PROBLEM
Despite organized operations in recent years, the organization continues to pose a serious security problem in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country.
More than 20,000 people have been killed in the massive acts of violence organized by the terrorist organization Boko Haram, which has existed in Nigeria since the early 2000s, since 2009.
The organization has also carried out attacks in the country’s border neighbors Cameroon, Chad and Niger since 2015. At least 2,000 people have lost their lives in the organization’s attacks in the Lake Chad basin. (AA)
