Dozens of rockets fired from Gaza towards Israel

HE WAS ON HUNGER STRIKE FOR 87 DAYS
Palestinian prisoner Hıdır Adnan has been on a hunger strike for 87 days, which began against Israel’s “administrative detention” in prison without trial.
Palestinian resistance groups announced that Adnan passed away earlier today.
Although human rights organizations stated that Adnan was “at risk of certain death” if he was not transferred from prison to hospital due to his deteriorating health, the Israeli authorities denied this.
With what it calls “administrative detention,” Israel can detain Palestinians from 1 to 6 months according to intelligence. If it is decided that the detainee “is a danger to the security of Israel”, the military judge can extend the detention period up to 5 years without even filing criminal charges.
Accused by Israel of being a member of the Islamic Jihad Movement and engaging in anti-Israel activities, Adnan, 44, has been detained many times since 2012 and sent to prison under “administrative detention.”
Adnan went on hunger strike for 66 days in 2012, 52 days in 2015, 59 days in 2018, and 25 days in 2021, in response to administrative detention. Adnan started his last hunger strike on February 5. (AA)
