Report of sexual abuse that confused Germany: there are hundreds of names
More than 250 priests, as well as former Archbishop Robert Zollitsch, are responsible for incidents related to sexual violence of more than 540 people, according to the report published by the president of the Commission of Inquiry, Magnus Striet.
The report also noted that the numbers in question could be even higher in the dark part of the event.
The 600-page report examines more than 20 cases, looks at how much church leaders care about victims and their families, and looks at which structures promote abuse.
The report also includes serious allegations that the late Archbishop Oskar Saier and the retired Archbishop Zollitsch, who is still living and was also president of the German Bishops’ Conference from 2008 to 2014, covered up sexual abuse. (AA)
