Inflation in the euro area is 6.9 percent
The euro zone consumer price index (CPI) rose 6.9 percent in March compared with the same month a year earlier, in line with expectations.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast CPI in the euro zone to rise 6.9 percent.
According to data from Eurostat, the European Union’s statistical agency, inflation rose 0.9 percent in March, in line with expectations, compared with the previous month.
CORE INFLATION 7.5 PERCENT
Core inflation, which is calculated excluding unprocessed food and energy prices in the euro area, increased by 7.5% compared to the previous year, in line with expectations.
Core inflation rose 1.2 percent from the previous month.
DOUBLE DIVISION INTO 11 EU MEMBERS
Annual inflation was 25.6% in Hungary, 17.2% in Latvia, 16.5% in the Czech Republic, 15.6% in Estonia, 15.2% in Poland and Lithuania, 14.8% % in Slovakia in March, 12.2% in Romania, 12.1% in Bulgaria, 10.5% in Croatia and 10.4% in Slovenia.
Thus, inflation was measured in double digits in 11 EU member countries.
In said period, inflation was 9.2 percent in Austria, 8.1 percent in Italy and Sweden, 8 in Portugal, 7.8 in Germany, 7.3 in Denmark, 7.1 in Malta and Ireland, 7 in France and Finland, 6.7 in France and Finland, 6.1 in the Greek Cypriot administration, 5.4 in Greece, 4.9 in Belgium, 4.5 in the Netherlands, 3.1 in Spain, detected 2.9 percent in Luxembourg.
