First in the US! It is allowed to read azan for 5 times
The Minneapolis City Council voted unanimously to publicly call for prayer five times a day in a major city for the first time in the nation’s history.
With the vote held in Ramadan, the parliament changed the relevant restrictive articles in the city’s noise regulation, which hindered the open call to prayer, especially in the morning and at night.
Mohammed Dukulfy, the imam of the city’s Nour Mosque, who observed the vote, expressed his satisfaction with the result: “Minneapolis has now become a city for all religions.” he used the phrase.
Jaylani Hussein, president of the Minnesota Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), said the 5-fold prayer time shows that “a nation founded on religious freedom has kept its promise to the world.”
Last year, the city council authorized the open call to prayer, but due to limitations in noise regulations, morning and evening prayers were excluded.
Three of the 13 members of the Minneapolis city council, which has a population of about half a million, are Muslim. (AA)
