Pompeo opposes Trump’s claim to end the Ukraine war
Donald Trump stands out by saying that if he is re-elected president, he can solve the Ukraine War in 24 hours. However, Trump’s promise was not taken seriously by Mike Pompeo, who served as secretary of state during his presidency.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” the former secretary of state told Fox News host Martha MacCallum of Trump’s allegations.
Pompeo’s comment came after Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Monday that if he were re-elected president, he would easily use his ties to negotiate with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
“And there is a very easy negotiation to make,” Trump said. But I don’t want to tell you what that is because then I can’t use this negotiation. it never works. But it is a very easy negotiation to carry out, ”he said. The former president even claimed that he could solve the problem in 24 hours: “It won’t even be difficult, I know what to say to each of them.”
Trump went on to say that he is the only presidential candidate who can promise to avoid World War III.
Pompeo, for his part, refuted Trump’s claim and highlighted his own achievements in relations with the Kremlin. “Putin doesn’t take an inch when I’m secretary of state and he takes action after we’re gone,” Pompeo told MacCallum.
It is also claimed that Pompeo is currently preparing for the 2024 presidential race against Trump.
