United Kingdom: Russia wants to expand the army
In the intelligence report shared by the British Defense Ministry, it was claimed that Russia wanted to recruit 400,000 more soldiers, and that this was presented as an attempt to recruit professional personnel rather than a mobilization.
In the statement made by the British Ministry of Defense, it was indicated that the campaign in question was aimed at recruiting 400,000 soldiers and said: “The authorities are preparing to launch a massive recruitment campaign with the aim of recruiting a further 400,000 soldiers. Russia presents this campaign as an initiative of volunteer and professional personnel rather than a new forced mobilization. “Russian authorities have probably chosen the so-called ‘voluntary model’ to fill the personnel gap in order to minimize internal opposition,” he said.
“It is unlikely that the campaign will attract 400,000 real volunteers. But it will take more than personnel to rebuild Russia’s fighting power in Ukraine. “Russia needs more ammunition and military equipment than it currently has.” (DHA)
