British police turned out to be racist, homophobic and misogynistic

After Sarah Everard was kidnapped, sexually assaulted and murdered by police officer Wayne Couzens in England in 2021, the Met Police Department commissioned an independent report to investigate the culture and standards within itself.

The findings of the 363-page report included determinations that the police force was institutionally racist, misogynistic, and homophobic.

In the report, it was highlighted that routine pranks were played, such as throwing bags of urine in the cars of policewomen, touching each other’s genitals or putting sex toys in coffee cups.

ROUTINE sexism and misogyny

The report states that “22 percent of staff and civil servants have been intimidated. “There is a deep culture and resistance to diversity that encourages people to look, act and speak the same throughout the Met. Female officers and staff routinely confront sexism and misogyny.”

The report also found that black and minority ethnic police officers were exposed to racism by their colleagues and did not consider incidents worth reporting by ignoring them.

The report also highlights that the freezer broke down due to the extreme heat of last summer, all the organic evidence in it had to be destroyed and the sexual abuse cases opened for this reason were filed.
