Declaration of support for the Palestinian people from Italy

The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that Abbas received Tajani and her accompanying delegation at the presidential residence in Ramallah.

Emphasizing the deep relations between the two countries, Abbas praised Italy’s position of supporting the two-state solution and its assistance in building Palestinian institutions.

Abbas, while briefing Tajani on the latest developments in Palestine, noted the importance of adhering to the agreements stipulating the cessation of unilateral actions and international legitimacy.

Tajani, for his part, expressed that his country will continue to support the two-state solution and the Palestinian people.

As part of his official contacts, Tajani also met with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtiyya and Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki.

In his meeting with Tajani, Ishtiyya asked Italy to recognize the Palestinian state and pressure Israel to comply with the signed agreements.

Stating that the far-right government in Israel is trying to systematically destroy the two-state solution, Ishtiyya stressed that it is important to recognize the Palestinian state in this process, where there is no political initiative.

At the press conference held after his meeting with Tajani, Maliki said that the Israeli government’s program is based on committing crimes against the Palestinian people, assassinations, street executions and settlement expansion, changing the historical and legal status of Jerusalem, arbitrary arrests and racist practices. .

Recalling that 84 Palestinians, 15 of whom were children, have been killed since the New Year, Maliki said that the policy pursued by the Israeli government increased tension in the Palestinian territories, especially in Jerusalem.

Noting that international efforts must unite against Israeli colonialism and the apartheid system, Maliki noted that the international community’s statements of “concern” about the crimes committed were not enough to stop Israel.

Maliki thanked Italy for its support for the two-state solution and its assistance to the Palestinian people and Palestinian institutions, especially the United Nations Assistance Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA). (AA)
