The head of the Russian mercenary army Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, accuses some members of the Russian army command of sabotage. This writes Reuters. According to Prigozhin, the top army officials denied the Wagner Group important ammunition. The Russian military is known to maintain a rivalry with Wagner’s mercenaries.
In an audio fragment released today by the Wagner Group press office, an angry and emotional Prigozhin could be heard. In the clip, he said he had to apologize and obey Russia to get ammunition for his troops. “I am unable to solve this problem in this way, despite my contacts and connections.”
Conscious choice
According to Prigozhin, Russia’s military production is more than sufficient for troops at the front, which means that the Wagner Group’s supply problems appear to be a deliberate choice, he argues. “Those who are trying to stop us from winning the war are working directly for the enemy.”
Since the outbreak of war, Prigozhin has had several falling outs with Russian generals and the Kremlin. He accused the Russian military leadership of a lack of decisiveness against Kiev. Also, he thinks that the Russian military shows Wagner’s achievements on the battlefield.
