Borrell’s message of support for Ukraine

“We need to increase and accelerate our military support for Ukraine as soon as possible,” Borrell said in his speech at the 59th Munich Security Conference in Germany.

Addressing the leaders, Borrell stressed that the first and urgent thing they must do is “arm Ukraine”.

Borrell said: “All the European leaders here said yesterday that Russia cannot win this war, that Ukraine must prevail. So let’s turn words into deeds and increase our military support for Ukraine. Because Ukraine is in a critical situation in terms of available ammunition, ”he said.

Emphasizing that the problem must be resolved “in a few weeks” without waiting for new acquisitions or joint European purchasing programs to be completed, Borrell said: “We should use what we have, what the member states have.”

Borrell also urged EU member states to speed up the shipment of heavy weapons, including tanks.

“Everyone knows that to win a war, a classic war, tanks are needed. You cannot win this war without such weapons.” he performed the assessment of it.
