Germany: We will defend every inch of the alliance’s territory
In his speech at the 59th Munich Security Conference, Pistorius claimed that Russia is waging a brutal war of aggression and conquest against Ukraine, arguing that if Russian President Vladimir Putin gets what he wants here, it will be a start.
“PUTIN’S LEADERSHIP HAS NOT CHANGED”
Emphasizing that Russia should not succeed, Pistorius said that despite diplomacy and harsh economic sanctions, “Putin did not change direction.”
Noting that in his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Germany assured that it would support Ukraine with the European Union (EU) and the transatlantic partner for as long as it takes, Pistorius also claimed that he clearly stated that Ukraine should win (the war ).
The German defense minister claimed that the NATO alliance reacted quickly and decisively after Russia’s attack on Ukraine, adding: “We can and will defend every inch of the alliance zone.” saying.
SIGNED FOR THE BALTIC COUNTRIES AND POLAND
Pointing to the security of the Baltic states and Poland, Pistorius said: “The security of the Baltic states, Poland and all our allies is the security of Germany.” he used the phrase.
Stating that the United States has always contributed to Europe’s security and is grateful for it, the German minister said: “But at the same time, it is clear that Europe needs to do more. The equation here should be NATO and the EU, not NATO or the EU. Or rather, a stronger Europe for a stronger NATO”. he said.
Expressing that Finland and Sweden should become NATO members because of this, Pistorius assessed that this is in the interest of the alliance, as well as Finland and Sweden.
Pointing out that Germany assumes various roles within NATO, Pistorius said the German military is important for Europe’s security and will assume responsibility in the alliance from now on.
Expressing that this has a cost, Pistorius recalled that the German government has allocated a fund of 100 billion euros for the use of the army.
Minister Pistorius noted that Germany will also achieve NATO goals. (AA)
