John Kirby, Coordinator of Strategic Communications for the White House National Security Council, spoke about the assistance provided by the United States after the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

According to the news cited by VOA Turkish, Kirby noted that search and rescue teams in Turkey continue to work intensively to assist in live rescue efforts this week, adding: “US military helicopters join the US and international response teams in Turkey”. It also provides critical support for relief equipment and supplies,” she said.

Kirby announced that teams brought in around 18 tons of critical relief materials, including tents, water and sanitation supplies, hygiene kits, diapers, heaters and generators, as well as aid workers, from Incirlik Air Base to several points in the region today.

Reminding that the US military is ready to support, John Kirby said: “But of course we will do it together with the Turkish government. The US European Command has designated the US Navy European Command to lead our military efforts. We have a large number of military capabilities on the continent and in the Mediterranean if necessary. We are acting in full consultation with the Turkish government and in accordance with its best needs,” he said.

John Kirby also touched on Foreign Minister Antony Blinken’s visit to Turkey at the meeting, saying: “Minister Blinken will be on the ground on Monday to assess our ongoing response efforts in Turkey and our efforts in Turkey.”
