Swedish police did not allow the provocation of burning the Holy Quran

In the statement made by the Stockholm police, it was noted that the person who requested to burn the Quran in front of the Stockholm Embassy in Iraq was not allowed, saying: “Incidents of Quran burning have increased and considering that it may increase in the future, events that will harm Swedish interests in the short term were assessed and the decision was made accordingly.

The statement did not provide information on the identity of the person who requested the permit.

Following provocation by Rasmus Paludan, leader of the far-right Danish Strict Leadership Party (Stram Kurs), Stockholm police did not allow the burning of the Koran in front of the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm on February 8.

Former Swedish Chancellor Carl Bildt, in his remarks to his country’s TV4 channel, emphasized that the burning of holy books such as the Koran should be banned in Sweden and stated that it is a hate crime.

PALUDAN BURNED THE KORAN IN SWEDEN

Rasmus Paludan, leader of the Danish far-right Strict Direction Party, burned the Quran in front of the Stockholm Embassy in Sweden on January 21 in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, and no one was allowed to approach Paludan during the action held under the protection crowded police.

Many Islamic countries, especially Turkey, reacted to the Swedish government’s permission to burn the Koran in Paludan.

Paludan burned the Koran in front of the mosque and in front of the Turkish Embassy in Copenhagen on January 27 in Denmark. Edwin Wagensveld, leader of the Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West (PEGIDA) movement in the Netherlands, tore up the Koran in The Hague.

Attacks on the Qur’an are protested in Turkey and many countries, Sweden, the Netherlands and Denmark. (AA)
