NATO support for earthquake victims in Turkey

NATO sends shelter facilities to Turkey

According to the statement made by NATO, the shelter facilities to be sent by NATO will normally consist of headquarters complexes used in NATO exercises and operations. These facilities include facilities such as heating, generator, and medical treatment areas.

NATO military officials are evaluating the most appropriate transportation and logistical options for dispatching the shelter facilities that are currently located at the NATO Support Agency’s Southern Operations Center in Taranto, Italy.

These facilities will be completed with the placement of tents suitable for winter conditions, which NATO countries began to send after its establishment.

NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander in Europe (SACEUR), General Christopher Cavoli, will lead efforts to send the units.

Welcoming the allies’ decision, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said: “NATO stands in solidarity with our ally Turkey. Referral of these shelters will save lives. NATO allies and partners are providing substantial support to the relief effort. We will continue to do our best to help those in need.” (AA)
