Fear of an attack in Sweden after the provocation of the Koran

Tensions continue to rise after far-right Danish politician Rasmus Paludan burned the Koran near the Turkish embassy in Stockholm.

The incident, which caused Turkey to halt its talks with Sweden over NATO membership, also sparked controversy within Sweden. The Swedish internal security agency made a statement today, reporting that threats against Sweden have increased rapidly after the Quran burning provocation.

In a statement by the Swedish internal security agency SAPO, it was noted that the security situation in the country was worsening as international reactions to the incident continued. The statement noted that the threat of Islamist violence in the country has increased.

On the other hand, SAPO did not raise the terrorist threat level, which is currently 3 in the country.

After the act of burning the Koran, many countries where Muslims are concentrated, in addition to Turkey, also reacted harshly to Sweden.

The US embassy in Sweden had warned on Sunday that a retaliatory attack could be launched against the country.
