Russia and Myanmar sign nuclear energy cooperation agreement

According to the company statement, the signing ceremony was held at the Nuclear Technology Information Center in Yangon, Myanmar, a joint project of Rosatom and the Myanmar Ministry of Science and Technology.

The Nuclear Technology Information Center will provide access to information on the principles of the nuclear industry, the operation of nuclear power plants, the non-nuclear sectors in which nuclear technologies are used, and more.

THE 25TH ROSATOM CENTER ABROAD

The Center will increase interest in science education and develop the personnel training process necessary for the development of the nuclear industry in Myanmar. This center will be the 25th center opened by Rosatom, 6 of which are abroad.

Under the agreement, Russia and Myanmar will especially cooperate in the implementation of small nuclear power plants. After the official signing ceremony, Rosatom General Manager Aleksey Likhachev gave a lecture on nuclear technologies to students of Myanmar technical universities and answered questions from students.

Likhachev, whose views were included in the statement, stated that this year marked the 75th anniversary of Russia-Myanmar relations, saying: “The establishment of a new industry in the country will certainly benefit the energy sector, industry and the economy. from Myanmar. Nuclear power offers a continuous and reliable source of clean energy at a stable price. The introduction of nuclear technologies means that there will be a great acceleration in the development of science, education and the training of highly qualified personnel. We appreciate Myanmar’s preference for Russian nuclear technology.” (AA)
