The Kahramanmaraş earthquake devastated Syria: the number of dead and injured increases
Search and rescue efforts continue in Syria, in the provinces of Idlib, Aleppo, Hama, Latakia and Tartus, which were affected by the earthquakes.
According to SANA news, 812 people lost their lives and 1,449 were injured in the regions under the control of the regime in the provinces of Aleppo, Latakia, Hama and Tartus.
Many buildings were destroyed or damaged in opposition-controlled areas in northern Syria.
According to information gathered by AA’s field correspondents from the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR), Civil Defense (White Helmets), local authorities, health institutions and local sources, at least 970 people were killed in Idlib, Shield of the Euphrates and Syria. Regions of Operation Olive Branch More than 300 people were injured.
The 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes, whose epicenter was Kahramanmaraş, caused extensive destruction in the provinces concerned. (AA)
