Kremlin: Baltic states will do anything to provoke conflict
Kremlin spokesman Dmitriy Peskov made remarks to reporters on current affairs in the capital Moscow.
Assessing Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda’s proposal to send combat aircraft to Ukraine, Peskov said: “We see a rather aggressive attitude from the representatives of the Baltic states and Poland. “Maybe they are willing to do anything to escalate the conflict, regardless of the consequences,” he said. “It is unfortunate that the top leaders of the European countries are not playing a stabilizing role in these circumstances,” Peskov said.
Emphasizing that the West is involved in the Ukraine issue, Peskov said: “The level of its involvement in this issue is increasing. We take this into account. “This will not help change the course of events,” he said.
Referring to statements by former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel and former French President François Hollande regarding the Minsk agreements on the Ukraine issue, Peskov said:
“Poroshenko, Merkel and Hollande confirmed that the Minsk agreements are a veil in which they camouflage their intention to prepare Ukraine to forcefully resolve the Donbas problem. This proves that Putin was right in making the decision to launch a special military operation.” (AA)
