104 people die from cold in Afghanistan
Speaking to local media, Rahimi said heavy snowfall, freezing temperatures and cold weather have been reported in recent weeks in Tahar, Bedahshan, Nimruz, Kandahar, Lagman, Gazni, Uruzgan, Juzcan, Sar-i Pul, Faryab, Paktika, Belh, Samangan, Bamyan and other regions of the country, said a total of 104 people, including children and women, lost their lives from reasons such as gas suffocation.
According to official data, 104 people, including children, have died in the last 2 weeks.
In Afghanistan, where there is no heating system and money is tight, people often use coal, wood or liquefied gas for heating, which in many cases costs human lives due to gas leaks or carbon monoxide.
Extreme cold and snowfall have swept parts of Afghanistan since the first week of January, when temperatures dipped to minus 30 degrees Celsius.
