Iran: We will respond to EU and UK sanctions
Iran has announced that it will respond to sanctions imposed on some Iranian individuals and institutions by the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom.
According to Iran’s official news agency IRNA, Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kenani made a statement on the latest EU and UK sanctions against Tehran. Noting that they condemn the EU and UK sanctions, Kenani said: “This action by the European Union and the British regime is a sign of their confusion regarding Iran’s authority, as well as their mental inability to understand completely the Iranian realities”.
“Iran reserves the right to respond to such failed policies and will soon announce a new list of sanctions against human rights violators and supporters of terrorism in the European Union and the United Kingdom,” Kenani said.
EU countries decided yesterday to impose sanctions on 18 Iranian people and 19 organizations for their role in intervening in demonstrations that began after the death of Mahsa Amini in Iran. Britain also announced that it had placed some Iranian officials and organizations on the sanctions list over the execution of Ali Reza Akbar, an Iranian-British dual national accused of “human rights violations in suppressing protests” and espionage. .
