They capture Matteo Messina Denaro, the leader of the Cosa Nostra, one of the most famous mafia bosses in the world

In Italy, it was announced that Matteo Messina Denaro, the leader of Cosa Nostra, one of the world’s largest mafias, was captured in Palermo, the capital of Sicily.

Italian police announced that Denaro, one of the country’s top mafia leaders, wanted for 30 years, was detained at a private hospital. Denaro is known worldwide as one of the most important figures of the Sicilian mafia. The Cosa Nostra, whose name is identified with Sicily, caused the death of many people with brutal murders in Italy.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni thanked the police, describing Denaro’s capture as “a great victory for our country.”

Cosa Nostra, which is one of the largest mafia organizations in the world and even known as the first established mafia organization in the world, has also been the subject of many movies and TV series. Denaro, 60, who was a member of a major Sicilian mafia family and began murder at a young age, is believed to be responsible for at least 50 deaths.

Denaro was sentenced to life in absentia in absentia for the 1992 murders of anti-mafia prosecutors Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino. He was also wanted as a planner for the 1993 bombings in Florence, Rome and Milan.

Matteo Messina Denaro was among the “10 most notorious criminals in the world” wanted by the FBI for years. Computer-assisted robotic photos of Denaro, whom he had not seen in years, were distributed to police.
