US makes COVID-19 test mandatory for Chinese passengers
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that, effective January 5, 2023, they decided to test for Covid-19 and make a negative test mandatory for those who come from China to USA
In a written statement from the CDC, it was noted that the app would also apply to people traveling from Hong Kong and Macau.
The statement indicated that this measure was taken on the grounds that China’s data was not “sufficient and transparent”, and it was stated that different variants of Covid-19 continue to emerge in the world.
The statement indicated that the test will be requested from all people over the age of 2, vaccinated or unvaccinated, traveling from China, and that the request will also be valid for people who make a transit flight through a third country.
Due to the increase in Covid-19 cases, countries including Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, India, Taiwan and Italy have introduced additional measures for passengers traveling from China, many of which have required negative test submissions. (AA)
