New UK sanctions on Russian and Iranian commanders
In a statement made by the British Foreign Office, it was claimed that Iran has become one of Russia’s biggest military supporters by sending hundreds of UAVs to Russia, referring to US statements, and that Iranian-made drones play a central role in attacks against civilians.
In the statement, it was noted that sanctions will be imposed on Iranian businessmen and a military officer involved in the production and/or supply of unmanned aerial vehicles used to carry out attacks against Ukraine.
On the other hand, new British sanctions were claimed to have targeted 12 Russian army commanders after attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. In the statement, it was emphasized that the names of the names to be sanctioned will be frozen in the UK and a travel ban will be imposed on these individuals.
The statement also included the assessments of British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, noting the following:
“The calculated attacks by Russian forces against Ukrainian cities and innocent civilians will not go unanswered. The Iranian regime is increasingly isolated in the face of strong calls for change from its own people, and in a desperate attempt to survive, it makes dirty deals with (Russian President Vladimir) Putin.” (AA)
