Terrifying fire in tourist paradise: Advancing towards the city
A heartbreaking event occurred in Rio de Janeiro, one of the tourist cities of Brazil.
A fire broke out in the mountainous area on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, home to one of the country’s most touristy beaches, Copacabana, where more than 6.7 million people live.
As the flames moved rapidly towards the area where the settlements are located, the British news agency Reuters shared photos of the scene. In the photos it is seen that the smoke rises in the area of the leafy forest and the flames move towards the densely populated area.
It was announced that many first aid teams and fire departments were dispatched to the scene.
The fire was reported to have started between Copacabana and Lake Jordigu de Freitas, south of Rio. While the cause of the fire has yet to be explained, it was reported to have turned to ash over a very large forest area.
