Iranian actress Mitra Heccar arrested
According to the official Iranian news agency IRNA, Mehdi Kuhiyan, a member of the monitoring committee responsible for the arrest of the artists affiliated with Cinema House, announced that the famous film actor Heccar has been arrested.
The news did not provide information on the reason for Heccar’s arrest.
However, Heccar, who is also known as an environmental activist and is among the artists supporting protests in the country, testified at the prosecutor’s office last month on charges of “posting undocumented and provocative content on social media.”
Some film actors in Iran were arrested for “inciting a riot and making provocative posts on social media.”
In the statement from the House of Iranian Cinema it was indicated that if the detentions and arrests of some filmmakers continued, the members would go on strike and withdraw from film projects and television series in the country. (AA)
