Rafsanjani’s daughter is on trial for ‘supporting protests’
Nida Şems, the lawyer for Faize Hashemi, the daughter of former President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, made the statement on her Twitter account.
Stating that the first hearing of Faize Haşimi, who was in prison due to his previous statements, was held on Wednesday, November 30, Şems said that “all the documents and files provided by the Ministry of Intelligence were examined by the judge corresponding court.”
Shams noted that his client was being tried for “acting openly and secretly against the security of the country, making propaganda against the Islamic Republic system, disturbing public order and peace by participating in illegal demonstrations.”
Faize Hashemi was arrested for “inciting protesters” during protests that began after the death of Mahsa Emini in the capital Tehran on 27 September.
KNOWN FOR HARD CRITICISM
Faize Hashemi, who has come out with harsh criticism and accusations against the country’s government, especially in recent years, said in a speech at a conference held at Zanjan University in 2017: “I am against The veil is now compulsory, just as I was against the ban on the veil during the Shah’s reign.” he had used the words.
In his January 2021 speech, Hashemi declared that he supported US pressure on Iran, and this statement provoked reactions in the country, including his own circle. In his April speech, Hashemi said the Revolutionary Guard Army should remain on the US sanctions list.
In May, the prosecution opened an investigation against Hashemi for his statements about the Prophet Muhammad, which he later claimed were a “joke”, and his support for sanctions against the Tehran administration. (AA)
