US Ambassador’s Turkey-Greece War Comment: He Said Washington’s Position
As the tension between Turkey and Greece continues, US Ambassador to Greece George Tsunis, who appeared on Greek television ANT1 the day before, made a statement. Tsunis, of Greek origin, spoke about the position of the Washington administration on a possible Turkey-Greece war in an interview where he spoke of his closeness to US President Joe Biden.
Tsunis said: “Our main focus will be Greece and Turkey negotiating and trying to resolve their differences diplomatically and in accordance with international law. There is no other method. There’s a lot to risk out there. Because both countries are respected allies and important members of NATO,” he said.
“USA WILL WORK WITHOUT GETTING TIRED”
The American diplomat said: “But these problems are very serious and important. No one thinks this tension is constructive. We constantly call on Greece and Turkey to act in this way. “There are difficulties in many relationships, but peace must be the top priority and the solution must be diplomatic,” he said.
When the US ambassador was asked, “If there is an attack on Greece, Greece will act on its own,” he replied, “The Greek military has enough power to protect its lands. But as the US ambassador, I can say that the US will also work tirelessly for peace.” Tsunis also expressed that the problems between the two countries can be resolved.
