Juventus betting scandal: Nicolo Fagioli under investigation
After the Paul Pogba case, punished for doping, Juventus may be shaken by another incident off the field: Nicolo Fagioli is under investigation for placing online bets on illegal platforms.
The Turin Prosecutor’s Office and the Italian Football Federation opened a file on the matter. If it is confirmed that article 24 of the Sports Justice Law has been violated, the Juventus midfielder will run the risk of receiving a sanction of at least three years, as provided for in these cases.
WHAT DOES ARTICLE 24 SAY?
Article 24 of the Sports Justice Law establishes that “persons in the federal system, managers, partners and members of clubs in the professional sector have the right to accept, directly or indirectly, bets related to the results of official matches organized in The framework of the FIGC, FIFA and UEFA prohibits them from playing or accepting, even from other people.

Nicolo Fagioli, 22, grew up in the Juventus infrastructure.
WHY IS FAGIOLI BEING INVESTIGATED?
Gambling in Italy is not a crime in itself, but gambling on illegal platforms is.
Furthermore, an athlete, regardless of his or her role, is prohibited from betting on his or her own sport. The case is now in the hands of prosecutor Giuseppe Chine, who must prove whether Fagioli bet and, if so, what he bet on.
The investigation was opened by the Turin Prosecutor’s Office in recent months into a betting network (sports and others) on online platforms. We are now trying to clarify this issue. Fagioli could face a fine of 25,000 euros or more in addition to the three-year ban.
