Retail sales declined in August
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the retail sales indices for August 2023.
Consequently, the volume of retail sales at fixed prices increased by 17.2 percent in August 2023 compared to the same month of the previous year.
In the same month, sales of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 15.3 percent, sales of non-food products (excluding automobile fuel) increased by 24.2 percent, and sales of automobile fuel decreased by 1 percent.
Retail sales volume at constant prices decreased by 4.7 percent in August 2023 compared to the previous month.
AUTOMOTIVE FUEL SALES DECREASE BY 9 PERCENT
In the same month, sales of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 0.1 percent, sales of non-food products (excluding automobile fuel) decreased by 5.6 percent, and sales of automobile fuel decreased by 9 percent.
Retail turnover at current prices increased by 87.5 percent in August 2023 compared to the same month of the previous year. In the same month, sales of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 89.9 percent, sales of non-food products (excluding automobile fuel) increased by 98.1 percent, and sales of automobile fuel increased by 58.5 percent.
