Djokovic and Gauff reach the semifinals of the US Open
At the final Grand Slam tennis tournament of the season, the US Open, world number 2 Novak Djokovic in men’s singles and world number 6 Coco Gauff in women’s singles advanced to the semifinals.
The ninth day of the tournament held in New York City continued with the men’s and women’s singles quarterfinals.
Intent on winning his 24th career Grand Slam title in men’s singles, Serbian athlete Djokovic defeated ninth-seeded American Taylor Fritz 6-1, 6-4, 6-4, 3 -0, after 2 hours and 35 minutes between the tennis player. The Serbian tennis player reached the semifinals of the US Open for the 13th time and 47th in the Grand Slam total.
In the women’s singles, the American Coco Gauff, seeded sixth, defeated the Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, number 20, 6-0, 6-2 sets and 2-0 and reached the semifinals in her country. (AA)
