Fan dies after falling from the stands during River Plate Defense and Justice match

During the River Plate-Defensa y Justicia match played at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires in the Argentine Premier League, a fan fell from the stands when the minute marked 14.

According to the statement from the authorities; Pablo Marcelo Serrano, 53, died at the scene of a head injury after falling from a height of 15 meters in the Sívori Alta grandstand of the River Plate Monumental Stadium.

Host team River Plate said in a statement: “The stand where the deceased bought his season ticket was 90 per cent full. No third party was involved in the fall. In addition, it was determined that there was no violence in the stands or around the deceased.

The referee of the match, Referee Fernando Rapallini, stopped the match with the score 0-0 at minute 25 and the match was suspended. While the police investigated the cause of the event, they closed the grandstand for 24 hours to collect evidence.
