Luka Doncic to cover funeral expenses for those killed in Belgrade school shooting
NBA star Luka Doncic has said he will pay for the funerals of eight children and a security guard who were killed in the Belgrade school shooting on Wednesday.
Doncic, a Slovenian with a Serbian father, will also offer grief counseling services to classmates and staff. The basketball star said: “I am very saddened by the tragic attack on the school in Serbia, where innocent children also lost their lives.”
“I am by your side and I support you all in this difficult time.”
Dallas Mavericks guard Doncic has “committed” to providing immediate and long-term support for the victims through his charitable foundation.
Six other students and a teacher were injured in the attack on the Vladislav Ribnikar primary school.
In connection with the attack, a 13-year-old boy and his parents were detained.
Meanwhile, a suspect was detained in a second attack near a town 60 km south of Belgrade. Eight people were killed and at least 14 injured in the attack.
