UEFA discusses the exclusion of the Russian team from Belarus

It’s entirely possible that Saturday’s European Championship qualifier between Switzerland and Belarus may not matter at all. UEFA wants to discuss country exclusion on 4 April.

In an open letter to UEFA, many politicians demanded that Belarus be excluded from participation in the 2024 European Championship. The reason for the demand is Belarus’ support for Russia’s aggressive war in Ukraine.

On Saturday evening the Swiss will meet with the Belarusians in Serbia. The game in your country was not possible due to the war, so Serbia was chosen as a neutral ground. It is possible that the game may not make sense at all.

Belarus should be excluded

According to Sportshaw, the association’s letter says: “UEFA has long intended to discuss the situation in Belarus at the upcoming meeting of our executive committee.” It should go to the exception command.

The Swiss parliament also voiced a demand to remove Belarus from participation in the European Championship. This demand was supported by 30 national and state councilors from 13 cantons.

“Do not be silent”

“We cannot tacitly agree that the Swiss national team should play a European Championship qualifier against a team from a country that is responsible for the most serious human rights violations and supports Russia’s aggressive war in Ukraine,” the letter says. Fabian has written, among others, Signature Molina, Nicolas Walder and Eva Herzog.

On April 4, the claim could become a fact. Then the next UEFA meeting will take place in Lisbon.
