The era of Jorge Sampaoli ends at Sevilla
Sevilla, one of the clubs in the Spanish First Football League (LaLiga), dismissed Argentine coach Jorge Sampaoli.
In the Sevilla Club statement, the reasons for Sampaoli’s dismissal were “the inability to get the team out of the lower categories of the league and the image that the team gave on the field in recent games.” Sevilla, which is in 14th place with 28 points in the 26 games played so far in the League, is only 2 points above the teams on the relegation line.
Starting the season in LaLiga with Jule Lopetegui, Sevilla sacked the Spanish manager on October 6 and replaced Sampaoli after poor results. During his 6-month spell at Sevilla, Sampaoli played 19 league games and added 6 wins, 5 draws and 8 losses. Sevilla last lost 2-0 to Getafe on March 19 in La Liga.
HE DID FENERBAHÇE
Sevilla, who knocked out Fenerbahçe in the UEFA Europa League round of 16, advanced to the quarter-finals.
The Spanish media claim that Sampaoli will be replaced by José Luis Mendilibar in Seville. (AA)
