Senderos is no longer Servette’s sporting director

Former Swiss international Philippe Senderos is no longer Servette’s sporting director. After two and a half years, he leaves his “heart club”.

“The life of a club is made up of cycles,” the ex-defender, who turns 38 on Tuesday, writes on social media. He leaves his “heart club” with a sense of accomplishment and prides himself on always staying true to his values and beliefs.

Senderos’ departure comes at a time of turmoil in Servette. The Geneva team is currently second in the Super League. Despite the success, there is no certainty that the contract with coach Alain Geiger, which expires at the end of the season, will be renewed.

Senderos took over as athletic director in August 2020. Six months ago, the world champion under 17 resigned from his position as a player. Senderos made his debut in the Swiss top league with Geneva in 2001 at the age of 16, later playing for Arsenal in the Premier League for many years.
